South Korea beats defending champions Germany

South Korea beats defending champions Germany in FIFA world cup 2018. This was the third time when the defending champion team is knocked out in the group stage. Before Germany, Italy and Spain were knocked out in the group stage in 2010 and 2014 respectively.

Germany is out of the world cup after losing to South Korea by 2-0. Both the goals were done after the second half in the stoppage time (90+2 and 90+6 minutes). Germany didn’t qualify for pre-quarter-finals; this was the worst performance of Germany in 80 years.

Germany lost two matches in the group stage. The four-time winners had not been eliminated in a World Cup first round since 1938. It was also the first time when Germany lost to an Asian team in the world cup.

In the same group, Sweden defeated Mexico by 3-0 and will go to the pre-quarter-finals after 12 years. Mexico advances to the knockout matches with Sweden despite losing. South Korea was also eliminated despite the victory.

But their fans were very happy with their performance in the last match of their group. “I can’t talk right now. It’s too… it’s too surprising. Its uber surprising” said one astounded fan.
