After 30 Years FBI Found The Child Killer : April Tinsley Case

On April 1, 1988, 8-year-old April Tinsley was reported missing by her mother from their home in Wayne, Indiana. After 3 days, in the Police search, her one shoe was found and from 1000 feet away police discovered her body.

April had been sexually assaulted and strangled. Medical examiner’ discovered killers DNA on Tinsley body. Beside killer’s DNA, police had no clue about the killer. Two years there was no development in this case.

On 21 May 1990 detectives who were working on this case received a message from the killer that 8-year-old April M Tinsley did you find her other shoe haha I will kill again.“  It was clear that the killer was proud of his act. Detectives Tried very hard but did not found anything about the killer. After 14 years silence In 2004 killer again started challenging detectives by putting bags with notes on kid bicycles. In the note, the writer claimed that he is killer of April Tinsley. Detected failed to find the killer.

In July 2018 Northern Indiana Police used a genealogy website to find out killer by his DNA. Website info led police to a 59 years old man John D. Miller. Detectives ran surveillance on his home and match his DNA from the trash they collected from his home.

When Detective confronted Miller at home and asked him if he knew why they want to talk to him, he replied: “April Tinsley.”
Police took him into custody where he has admitted that he Kiddnepaed April, Sexually assaulted her, Killed her and raped her dead body.
He further said April Took 10 Meints to die. He dumped her body and next day got very angry when he found that he was not in news. So he threw April’s shoes near her body so that police can find her and he can get some media attention. For now, Miller has sent to Allen County Jail and April family did not release any statement yet.
